29 Feb Brooksy’s Story
Like so many of the young women who we serve, Brooksy’s story is one of hope and healing. Following years of abusive relationships and substance abuse, Brooksy found herself caught in a vicious cycle.
In January of 2023, our staff received a call from another agency that a young woman was pregnant with twins and was in need of shelter, healthcare, emotional, and spiritual guidance. Our Fatherheart team welcomed Brooksy to the campus with open arms and started to prepare her for the journey ahead.
Within a short period of time, the medical team confirmed that one of the twins was not going to survive due to a complication. This was devastating news, and our team began to pray and seek the Lord with Brooksy. Despite the medical complications, Brooksy worked hard on building up her faith and mental/emotional health during the months ahead.
The Fatherheart staff witnessed a miracle as Brooksy began to heal from old wounds and find joy in the midst of this chaotic season in her life.
Right after giving birth, the Dr. confirmed what we all feared, and one of the twin babies did not survive. Our team grieved with Brooksy and gave her support during that first month.
Today, she continues to reside at Fatherheart with her healthy baby, and is learning job skills, growing in her Christian faith, and looks forward to providing a future for her and her child. She is determined to break the cycle of abuse that has plagued her and her family for generations.
There are countless young women like Brooksy here in East Texas. With your help, we can continue to provide hope and healing to more women and their families dealing with unplanned pregnancies. We believe that each child can grow up to reach their God-given potential and impact others one day.
On behalf of your Living Alternatives staff, board, and the women and families we exist to serve, thank you! We could not do this work without partners like you.
