An evening session at KEEPS Kamp featured a message on God’s design for families and individuals. Afterward, Emily, one of the mentors at Kamp, paired up with Juliet. The Lord softened Juliet’s heart and broke down her defenses. She opened up to Emily about her life in foster care and the challenging experiences she had with her family.

She knew God was real but had not accepted Him into her life. She was afraid to disappoint Him. She explained to Emily that she likes to be totally in or nothing at all. Emily discussed how His kindness leads us to repentance and asked the Lord to show His unending love for Juliet and wrap her in His arms. Emily instantly felt a sense of relaxation wash over Juliet’s body. Her fists became unclenched, and she began to cry, saying she couldn’t hold back her feelings.

Emily sensed the Holy Spirit prompting her to ask Juliet if she felt differently about asking the Lord into her heart. She cried even harder and responded, “I would love to!” Juliet said a beautiful prayer to our heavenly Father, asking Him to forgive her sins and become the Lord of her life.
