It was beautiful to see 17-year-old Katie and her mother tearing up as we sat listening to a worship song at our “Girl Talk” get-together.

We first met Katie at Axia a month before. She was nervous and anxious, waiting for the results of her pregnancy test.

Her parents didn’t know she was pregnant. Only one friend knew.

The boyfriend had made it clear that he didn’t want to be in a relationship. He didn’t want to be a “boyfriend.” But Katie was hopeful, feeling like if she had sex with him, he would surely be her “boyfriend.”

But reality hit her when she told him she was pregnant! He left angry, and she hadn’t seen him since.

Katie was heartbroken and very much alone. She was terrified to tell her mom she was pregnant.

We kept in touch with Katie and were there for her ultrasound, where she learned she was 20 weeks along.

When arriving home with her ultrasound picture, she knew it was time to tell her parents.

Although very disappointed, her parents did come around a couple of days after and accepted the pregnancy.

Now here we see, sitting together, Katie and her mother. Yes, it’s been hard for mom, but we are so very thankful for what the Lord is doing in their hearts and in their relationship.
